About Catherine Susky

I have had an interest in art as far back as I can remember. As a child, I preferred visiting art museums to other activities. I was born in New York and grew up in Manhattan, not far from the Metropolitan Museum of Art where I was inspired by the works of renowned artists from all over the world.

This inspiration led me to try my skills at landscapes, florals, and still-life paintings. While I enjoy all genres of painting, my passion is portraiture. Through portraits, I am able to capture a likeness and convey the personality of my subjects.

What brings most pleasure to me is being able to capture a special event or moment in the life of the subject. I hope that my portraits will become valued possessions, heirlooms, cherished and passed down for generations.

I work in oil, pastel, acrylic, and charcoal and teach both children and adults in my Lawrenceville studio.  I am a member of Southern Colours, the Portrait Society of Atlanta, the Atlanta Artists Center, the Quinlan Visual Art Center, and Kudzu Art Zone.
